Springfield Township, settled in the early 1700s, is a township rich in history and tradition. The Briant family was among the first settlers, arriving from Hackensack in 1717. Springfield Township was once frequented by the Unami, a subgroup of the Lenape Tribe known as the “People Down the River.”
